“What a joy to be in partnership with Brass for Africa! Whilst on one hand so much divides, this musical collaboration teaches that far more unites and it has, for all involved been wonderfully eye opening and, for many, life changing. Long may the partnership continue!”

WHAT DO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS THINK?
Testimonials from UK students and teachers
“We had the warmest welcome from the people. We were accepted and made friends straight away”
“The people are so optimistic in the face of so much adversity. They have passion and enjoyment in everything they do, which is a good lesson to us, and something we should adopt ourselves.”
One day we played four concerts. The energy of everyone was just incredible. It wasn’t just us performing to them – they were so involved as well”
“Every moment is a gift. The people never take anything for granted. It gives you a hint about what really matters.”
“What to expect from a trip of this kind? From our arrival at midnight, our Brass for Africa welcome party made us feel honoured to be there. The itinerary arranged for us was jam packed with incredible activities rehearsing and performing with the wonderful people that are the Brass for Africa teachers…I can honestly say that this trip has been life changing for all that went. Everyone came back a different person, and for the better. All our boys experienced things that have given them a new perspective on poverty and privilege that will never leave them. But above all the people we worked with and the bonds we made were so powerful. What a joyous ten days.
I cannot imagine there is another trip like this for a school to go on and I would encourage all to go. I personally cannot wait to get back out there.”
“It was a truly joyous, inspiring and uplifting experience. The whole school was buzzing!! Such a brilliant assembly – best ever according to staff and children alike – and the best workshop ever for year 4. I hope that you do get to come back in the future. You would certainly be welcome at St James’.”
