To the wonderful Brass for Africa community,
I am honoured and excited to start the year as your Chief Executive Officer at Brass for Africa.
Throughout my seven years with this incredible organisation, I learned so clearly from Jim that this is a servant role and a high calling. I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the reception and all the messages of encouragement, optimism and trust as shared on different platforms.
We have a rich history of people-centred leadership where every decision, initiative or project is triple-checked against how it affects the people we serve, the staff and every stakeholder. My primary goal is to build on this solid foundation while maintaining an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive. As we move forward, we will remain focused on achieving the strategic goals that define how we support our people.
To that end, I am thrilled to announce the appointment of Ronald Kabuye as the new Country Manager for our operation in Uganda. Before this appointment, Ronald served as the Programmes and Administration Manager, Project Manager for the refugee project in Northern Uganda, Deputy Director of Music Education and much earlier as a Music Teacher.
This transition is very special to us as it is the ultimate demonstration of the power of music and opportunity to Create Brighter Futures. Ronald is a former beneficiary and student of the music programme and one of the first people Jim, our founding trustee and former CEO, met in 2009.
Ronald has been instrumental in leading youth participation and community-led engagement at Brass for Africa, thus building sustainability into all of Brass for Africa’s initiatives.
Through the support of our organisation, Ronald’s achievements are remarkable. He holds a Law degree and an MBA in Arts Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, and he brings this knowledge and experience to his new role. We are all very proud of Ronald’s journey of growth, from the 14-year-old who joined the music programme in 2009 to being Brass for Africa’s second Country Manager.
I want to conclude this inaugural letter by expressing that we’ve begun the year with a lot of energy and determination to continue delivering on our promise to the 2,400 participants that we actively engaged weekly in 2024. As a small charity, we greatly need your support. Please consider making a donation today and plan to join our upcoming Race for Equality campaign (launching this weekend!) to help us raise the necessary funds to deliver our crucial services to those who need them the most.
Thank you for pledging your support as we embark on this exciting new chapter. I look forward to working closely with you as we strive to achieve the set goals and make Brass for Africa a world leader in creating brighter futures through music.
Warm regards,
