On Tuesday 11thDecember BfA held their annual Fun Day Celebration in Uganda hosting 19 of our outreach partners and 856 children and vulnerable youth!
The day comprised of games, a scrumptious lunch, and musical performances. Each band showcased a piece of their choice to the delight, encouragement and rapturous applause and cheering of all in the hall!
The finals of the BfA Solo Competition, with performances of pieces especially composed for the event, were carried out and 5 young musicians from 800+ applicants received the coveted “Alan Fernie Awards”.
The awards were presented by Guest of Honour “Cindy”, one of Uganda’s best loved and top pop music artists. Cindy also spoke to the hall about “resilience” (one of BfA’s key attributes) and how music gave her the resilience to transform her life from extreme poverty and hardship. Cindy also performed and invited many of the youngsters to join her on the stage to dance.
The event was a huge success thanks to the hard work and commitment of the BfA team. A huge thank you to sponsors Cohen Simon Accounting, Great Lakes Brands (Gorilla Snacks) and all of you who donated!
