Muwala Asobola Community Initiative
Muwala Asobola Community Initiative is a locally run organisation based in Kampala, Uganda, founded with the objective of enhancing and promoting the rights of children and young people. It directly engages communities through grassroots mobilisation, promoting gender equality and addressing gender-based violence (GBV). In its own words it is, "creating space for girls' potential". Faridah, one of the pioneers behind this new organisation, is a beneficiary of one of Brass for Africa's previous partnerships with Plan International. She came to us for support with her peers, and through the success of the campaign and everyone's help, this new partnership has been made possible.
Since May 2021 we have been delivering Music & Life-Skills sessions twice a week at MACI, in the impoverished settlement of Kawempe. Through these sessions many girls and young women in Faridah's community now have the opportunity to be involved, feel empowered and understand their value.
