Tender Talents Magnet School
This secondary school has around 450 pupils aged between 12 and 19. They come from the poorest section of the community. Brass for Africa supports the school, providing funding for their GCSE music lessons.A high proportion of students have lost their parents and other family members to HIV/AIDS. Some come from single-parent families and others are refugees from the Northern Uganda conflict.
HIV/AIDS continues to be a stigmatised topic, which ultimately means that the health risks and preventions are not spoken about enough. Through music lessons, a safe and comfortable space is created to discuss and educate on this critical matter. We are creating young Health Ambassadors who inspire the younger generations within the community to spread awareness and create a force for change.
